The hottest songs you haven’t heard yet (April 1)

While America’s airwaves are constantly being blown up by Adele, fun., and Kelly Clarkson, it’s a different story overseas. Check out these hot tracks that are blowing up the charts, and could become big hits here shortly.

1) Earthquake, Labrinth ft. Tinie Tempah

An upbeat club hit, Earthquake might not have what it takes to dominate the Hot 100, but I think it would do well on the dance/club charts. It’s hard to say what other songs you can compare it to, but I think it’s a good song that may do well on this latest British Invasion in music.

Nurse Jackie more dramatic than funny.

Even though Nurse Jackie has always been a bit more dramedy than full-blown comedy, the season 4 premiere certainly throws itself into a more dramatic slot. The show is still “enjoyable” to watch, but the subject matter is getting more serious and dark, and treads more into House territory.

With her marriage now ending, a crumbling addiction problem and no singular source for emotional stability, Jackie finally decides to check into rehab. The timing couldn’t be better since she picked up a guy in the hospital chapel and he ends up dead in her living room (because of drugs). Her 28-day trip to “Disneyland” may come at a bad time for her boss Akalitus, but Akaliatus knows what’s going on and is proud of Jackie’s decision.

Veggie burrito bowl!

Can’t lie, I stole this idea from Chipotle, whose burrito bowls are so damn delicious. Because it’s kind of ridiculous to spend 7$ per heavenly bowl, I tried to make my own in order to save a little bit of money. It tasted pretty good, so I decided to share with you guys what I did.

Roasted asparagus and grape tomatoes. Yum!

Hello everyone! This is my first food entry and I hope to keep making more of these entries. Many of my cooking entries will probably be vegetarian dishes because, well, I’m a newbie on the vegetarian scene. Hopefully I make something that will tickle your fancy. =] When I’m not writing about things I’m making, I might do restaurant reviews as well!

First up is a simple dish that turns a side veggie into the main star! What I made is some roasted asparagus and grape tomatoes with a side of rice. I always liked asparagus and thought about how to make it something substantial. So I threw a few things together and BAM! Something that was nutritious and quite filling.

The hottest songs you haven’t heard yet (March 25)

My latest blog adventure will be tracking a few songs every week that have been big hits overseas but haven’t quite found their footing here stateside. So here are three songs that haven’t been blowing up the airwaves here yet.

1) Titanium, David Guetta  f/ Sia

Another killer David Guetta track, this one featuring Sia (who is ripping up the Hot 100 on Flo Rida’s Wild One) peaked at number 5 on the Australia charts all the way back in October! It went number 1 in the U.K., and was in the top 5 throughout Europe. It’s one of the least flashy songs on Guetta’s album “Nothing But The Beat” but it’s a great showcase for Sia’s amazing vocals. The highest it has charted in the U.S. was 66 back in July. I think it’s a matter of time till this one replaces Turn Me On

“Frost/Nixon,” a real presidential debate.

It’s that time of year again. The political commercials are flooding the airwaves and the debates are endless. What a perfect time to look back at one of the best debates ever, and one of the debaters wasn’t even a presidential nominee. This is Frost/Nixon.

Original date of publication, March 24, 2009. The Slate

There is a scene near the end of “Frost/Nixon” where former Pres. Nixon talks to David Frost about liking people and being liked;  “That… facility you have with people. That lightness. That charm. I don’t have it. Never have. Makes you wonder why I chose a life which hinged on being liked.”

I also wondered why he chose that life.  Nixon probably thought that if he was re-elected to the presidency then people would still like him, which brought about actions to bug the Democratic National Committee headquarters.  This never crossed Nixon’s mind as being wrong because doing something illegal in the interest of the country, “means it’s not illegal.”

Reblogged from Doctor Quack:

When I turned twenty, I was under the impression that life was going to be a party for the next ten years. I was sorely mistaken. You see… I was warned about a couple things: my metabolism will decrease, I’ll get fatter, academic work will get harder, I’ll have to pay taxes; but there are a lot of things no one warned me about.
