Nickelodeon-produced boy band Big Time Rush is back with their new album, Elevate. While the boys popularity has certainly elevated since their first album, released in October of last year, the same can’t be said about their musical style.
Definitely fallen victim to the sophomore slump, Elevate is an album that has little in the way of lyrical and musical range. This is a 13-track, for lack of a better term, mess that is a constant regurgitation of the same old song for over 40 minutes. The bookend tracks provide the most fun and “range” on this album. Music Sounds Better With U and Blow Your Speakers are songs that are reminiscent of tracks from their first album, BTR, belting out playful lyrics and a feel good anthem that Til I Forget About You did so well.
