Even though Nurse Jackie has always been a bit more dramedy than full-blown comedy, the season 4 premiere certainly throws itself into a more dramatic slot. The show is still “enjoyable” to watch, but the subject matter is getting more serious and dark, and treads more into House territory.
With her marriage now ending, a crumbling addiction problem and no singular source for emotional stability, Jackie finally decides to check into rehab. The timing couldn’t be better since she picked up a guy in the hospital chapel and he ends up dead in her living room (because of drugs). Her 28-day trip to “Disneyland” may come at a bad time for her boss Akalitus, but Akaliatus knows what’s going on and is proud of Jackie’s decision.
Charlize Theron is one of the prettiest women on the planet, hands down. It doesn’t matter what age or racial bracket you put her in, she’ll always be at, or near the top. It’s only fitting that she plays the girl everyone used to envy from high school. Her beauty is flawless, but her life is anything but.
Mavis Gray (Theron) is a successful writer of a popular YA (Young Adult) book series. Her Minneapolis apartment is littered with empty liquor bottles, dirty laundry and the constant drone of bad reality TV. Not what you would imagine a YA writer’s loft would look like. One morning she gets an email from her ex-boyfriend, Buddy (Patrick Wilson), showing off his newborn daughter. With a failed marriage under her belt, she decides to set off for home to get him back. Yeah, she’s completely aware that he’s married.
